The governor of Karbala, Naseef Al-Khattabi, confirmed today, Friday, the completion of all preparations to revive the pilgrimage of the tenth of Muharram, while he expected the participation of 6 million visitors during the first ten days of Muharram.
Karbala Governor Naseef Al-Khattabi said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The governorate held a security meeting with the Minister of Interior, Joint Operations and other security agencies before the start of the month of Muharram,” noting that “all security preparations and special services have been completed to revive the ceremonies of the visit during the remaining days until the night of the tenth of Muharram.”
He pointed out that “the services are ready and we expect the participation of more than 6 million visitors during the Ashura visit that lasts for ten days, and after that, preparations are underway for the Arbaeen visit, which is expected to be more than last year, which reached 23 million, and there are great preparations for this visit.”
He added: “We have completed all preparations, reviewed the service plans, and the people of Karbala, the Husseini service processions, the governorate, and the two holy shrines are cooperating greatly to provide services to the visitors,” indicating that “the hot weather represents a challenge, and we need to provide more services and mechanisms to protect the visitors, and we have procedures for that.”
