Today, Monday, the Karkh Criminal Court issued a seven-year prison sentence against a convict for the crime of impersonating several public positions by creating fake pages on social media sites.
The media center of the Supreme Judicial Council stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the convict created and managed fake pages on social media sites belonging to government departments, including the Iraqi National Intelligence Service, the Iraqi National Security Service, the Ministry of Trade, and the Council of Ministers in 2023.”
The statement added, “The verdict was issued against him in accordance with the provisions of Resolution No. 160 of 1983, paragraph 1 thereof.”
