The media office of the Chairman of the Finance Committee stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “The Chairman of the Finance Committee in the House of Representatives, Atwan Al-Atwani, received today, Tuesday, a delegation from the International Partners Foundation, to discuss ways of sustainable development in Iraq, and to overcome the state of maintaining oil rentierism.” for the national economy.”
Al-Atwani said, “Iraq is currently seeking a gradual transformation from a single economy to a diversified, integrated economy, by maximizing non-oil revenues and making them an important basic resource for the general budget.”
Al-Atwani added, “We are looking forward to expanding cooperation and joint work with the International Partnership Project in terms of training, advice and planning, in a way that achieves a qualitative leap in performance,” noting that “the Parliamentary Finance Committee has identified the priorities necessary to achieve development and meet the needs of society, in addition to continuing the work.” Supervisory oversight of government spending outlets.
He pointed out that “the country has made important strides in the process of approving budgets for programs and projects, through the tripartite budget, which included solutions to many of the obstacles and routine procedures that hinder the development process.”
Al-Atwani noted the Finance Committee’s keenness to establish a partnership project with the International Partners Foundation.
In turn, the head of the international delegation confirmed the Foundation’s readiness to provide assistance to parliamentary committees in developing expertise, how to monitor the budget and spending, and disbursing funds in their designated places.
The delegation proposed holding workshops to develop strategic plans to determine priorities, expressing its readiness to provide assistance in all matters related to these projects.
