Government commitment
In this regard, the official spokesman for the Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee, Representative Ali Shaddad, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the opening of the Baiji oil refinery confirms the Iraqi government’s commitment to its timetables that it has pledged to itself in its government program, through which it seeks To raise the level of the country at all levels,” pointing out that “the Baiji refinery, which was rehabilitated after a hiatus that lasted more than ten years, will contribute to achieving the country’s self-sufficiency in petroleum derivatives and will work to supply the local market with (3,500 – 4,500) tons per day of liquid gas and… (5500) million liters per day of gasoline, in addition to (5500) million liters per day of naphtha and (3300) million liters per day of gas oil.”
He pointed out that “the efforts to restore the Baiji refinery are considered a vital and strategic part of the government’s strategy to enhance national production capabilities and improve the quality of petroleum products.”
Shaddad stressed “the importance of valuing the efforts made by all parties in rehabilitating the refinery and returning it to a lofty economic landmark,” noting that “the Prime Minister praised these efforts, including what the Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee made in achieving this major economic achievement.”
Proof of the government’s seriousness
For his part, Representative Alaa Sukkar said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The opening of the Al-Shamal Refinery in Baiji District demonstrated the seriousness of the government of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani in working and implementing its government program,” indicating that “what the Iraqi government did The rehabilitation of the northern refinery in Baiji by Iraqi cadres confirms their seriousness in working and implementing all the provisions of the government program, and perhaps this is happening for the first time.”
Sukkar added, “The refinery was restored to work at low costs, away from the complications of foreign companies,” expressing his “thanks to the Prime Minister and everyone who worked to restore work in this refinery.”
Strategic move
In addition, a member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, MP Intisar al-Maliki, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Efforts are accelerating to rehabilitate the Baiji refinery under the auspices of our government, a strategic step that reflects the government’s dedication to achieving self-sufficiency and strengthening the industry.”
Representative Zaytoun Al-Dulaimi also stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “We are witnessing tireless efforts by the Iraqi government to rehabilitate the Baiji refinery,” stressing that it is “a tremendous step towards enhancing self-sufficiency and achieving economic stability. This step provides a distinctive model towards… Strengthening the local industry with patriotic Iraqi hands saved millions of dollars.”
Great achievements
For his part, Representative Ahmed Al-Jubouri said, in his blog post on the (X) platform, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the great achievements at all levels undertaken by the government, which are higher than the ceiling of the scheduled government program, reflect wise management, diligent follow-up, and great effort.” Which is carried out by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, with direct supervision of all ministries and state institutions.”

Representative Yahya Al-Muhammadi also praised the steps taken by the Prime Minister and his tireless and continuous efforts to implement the government program.
