Hosts Ivory Coast have reached the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations after knocking out defending champions Senegal on penalties. The Lions of Teranga opened the score with Habib Diallo thrashing in the top corner. Franck Kessie equalised for the Elephants from the spot late in the second half. With nothing to break the deadlock, Moussa Niakhaté missed the crucial kick as Kessie scored to send Ivory Coast through.
Earlier in the day, Cape Verde secured their spot in the last eight after overcoming a plucky Mauritania outfit, thanks to an 88-minute penalty from Ryan Mendes.
To discuss all the football action, Jean-Emile Jammine is joined by Eurosport journalist Ruben Slagter and FRANCE 24’s James Vasina from Ivory Coast.
