Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Agriculture clarified the agricultural cooperation mechanism under the agreement that Iraq signed last year with Syria, Jordan and Lebanon.

Ministry spokesman Muhammad Al-Khuzaie told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The quadrilateral agricultural cooperation agreement that brought together Iraq, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon, which was signed last year, is an unifying agreement for a broad market that serves all member states in cases of scarcity, and we can import any goods or crops.” agricultural crops with full customs exemptions, as well as exporting the surplus of our agricultural crops to the markets of these countries. Therefore, it is more like a common market that brings together these countries and serves all countries and achieves their interests.”
Al-Khuzaie added, “During the past two days, another agreement was signed for bilateral agricultural cooperation between Iraq and Lebanon, which also took into account the opening of the two countries’ markets to the other country’s crops. Iraq is an importer of a number of agricultural crops from Lebanon, and the Lebanese side expressed its desire to import part of these crops.” Especially fertilizers and feed that are imported from other countries and may be at higher prices, as well as the import of dates, tomatoes, potatoes and onions in peak cases.”
