Today, Sunday, the Border Ports Authority announced the arrest of 6 people accused of committing fraud and manipulation at the Trebil border crossing.

A statement by the authority, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “The Directorate of the Trebil Border Port carried out a joint duty with the Customs Police Station, during which it was able to arrest (6) people accused of practicing illegal acts red-handed in the motor vehicle impoundment yard.”
The statement explained, “The defendants tampered with the tire speedometer by opening the wheels or lifting them with jacks for the purpose of changing, since these wheels had a zero kilometer and were seized by the decision of the Rutba investigating judge for violating the terms and controls of import due to the lack of a conformity certificate issued by the Central Agency for Standardization and Quality Control.”
He added, “A proper arrest report was prepared and legal measures were taken against the accused and referred to the judiciary.”
