The Minister of Health, Saleh Al-Hasnawi, announced the formation of investigative committees to find out the causes of the fire at the maternity hospital in Diwaniyah Governorate, while indicating the death of 4 children, and the causes of death are being determined.

Al-Hasnawi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), “Based on the Prime Minister’s directives, we went to the site of the Diwaniyah Hospital fire accident, and the governor, the Director-General of Health, and a number of representatives and security officials in the governorate were also present,” indicating that he “met with the employees and the operating company and listened to their testimonies.”
He pointed out that “the accident resulted in the death of 4 children as a result of suffocation.”
He added, “Investigative committees have been formed that will begin their work now based on the Prime Minister’s directives to find out the causes of the fire and hold those who were negligent accountable,” noting that “the committees include security intelligence to find out the motives, the second from civil defense to find out the causes of the fire, and the third administrative from the Ministry of Health headed by the Director General of the Inspection Department and within 3 Within days the results of the committees will be announced.”
He continued, “Administrative measures were taken with the employees of the Ministry of Health in Diwaniyah, initially withdrawing their hand and awaiting the results of the investigation,” expressing “his thanks to the security forces and the hospital’s daily wage workers for their magnanimity, courage, and zeal.”
