The Kurdistan Security Service, Asayish, announced today, Thursday, the arrest of 30 people accused of promoting ISIS ideas through social media sites in the region.
A statement by the Asayish received by Al-Rashid stated that, “On October 21, 2023, the Operations Directorate of the Asayish obtained information about the presence of two groups in the areas (Bashdur and Batwin) that were promoting extremist ideas through social media sites and planned to join the ranks of the terrorist organization ISIS to be part of the group.” Among the militants of this organization.”
He added, “The Asayish subjected these two groups to continuous surveillance for 20 days, and then an order was obtained from the judge to carry out an operation on December 15 of last year and arrest 10 terrorists in Diza Castle, including two women.”
He continued, “After conducting intensive investigations and in a wide campaign and a number of different operations carried out by the operational forces on December 17 last in the cities of Rania, Qalaa Diza, Zarawa, Haji Awa and Shakarta, 20 other terrorists were arrested and brought before the law.”
