A Spanish newspaper reported on Wednesday that Barcelona has no objection to selling one of its stars, but only on one condition.
It concerns the Uruguayan Ronald Araujo, Barcelona defender, whose name has been linked with leaving the club this summer, amid interest from many clubs in obtaining his services.
According to the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”, Araujo’s contract with Barcelona extends for two new seasons, and contains a penalty clause worth one billion euros.
The newspaper added that Barcelona considers Araujo an important and indispensable element in the team, and there is no intention to think about selling him.
Araujo had refused to confirm his stay with Barcelona, through press statements while he was with his country’s national team in the Copa America.
“I am fully focused on the Copa America,” he said, raising doubts among Barça fans.
The newspaper explained that if Araujo wanted to leave, he must inform Barcelona officials and come with a huge financial offer.
The newspaper indicated that this offer should exceed 100 million euros, which is in line with what Chelsea paid for players such as Moises Caicedo (133) or Enzo Fernandez (121).
Araujo is a target for Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern Munich, according to several press reports.
